IJESM Author Guidlines

Registration and Submission

Authors and Reviewers require to register in order to contribute to IJESM.  An assigned editor of IJESM, together with editors in chief, is responsible for ensuring and managing manuscript reviews are timely and independently conducted. 

Following article submission, the assigned editor and supporting staff will check the article format, language, and plagiarisms. If the content of the article is original and suitable for the aims and scope of IJESM, the assigned editor looks for reputable scientists to conduct independently and indiscriminately reviews.


Article structure and types

In general, an article consists of introduction, material and methods, results and discussions, conclusions, and references. The title and abstract appear on the first page before the main text. For details, please download the manuscript template.

A front-page: The author is requested to submit a front page, consisting of a title of the manuscript, author affiliations, complete addresses, valid email address of the corresponding author, and abstract.

Abstract: A stand-alone, meaning this abstract is written for a general audience. Present the problem, the objective, and methods. Present results, discussions, and conclusions in brief and concise. Maximum 250 words. Include five to seven keywords.

Introduction: state a specific research question, background, objective, and hypotheses (if any). If necessary, do relevant citations to support discussions and interpretation.

Material and Methods: describe the study site, uses of required materials, and research methods used to collect data. Please ensure that research methods must be sufficient and clear for others to repeat the work. The authors must appropriately cite any published methods used in the research.

Results: The authors present research results first before any discussion and interpretation. The results must be concise and clear. Provide self-explaining tables and graphs to show results. There is no need to cite any sources.

Discussion: Do not repeat results in the Discussion section. It is common to combine Results and Discussion in one section. Discuss the significance, impacts, and implications of results. The authors need not to present extensive quotations and discussions of published and unpublished work. The authors should focus on research results and significant findings of this current research.

Conclusions: The authors present a short, influential composition. The authors should not present the conclusions in the bullet points or numbers. If relevant, the authors may suggest further research work.  Alternatively, the authors may write a brief and concise conclusion in the last paragraph in the results and discussion section.

References: The authors preferably cite published recent articles on reputable journals. The authors should avoid excessive citations of unpublished reports and articles. All citations in the text must contain in References, and vice versa.


Article types
Authors are encouraged to submit one of the following papers:
- Regular research paper
- Review articles
- Short communication
- Letters to editor
- Discussion papers

All manuscripts are purely original and free of all kinds of plagiarisms. The authors must comply with the ethical publication and avoid any kind and any forms of plagiarisms.  IJESM will do a plagiarism check before the review stage.

Regular research paper

This manuscript is based on accomplished research. Research results, findings, and conclusions must not be previously published or submitted to any other journals. An abstract of this submission is allowed to present at a conference or seminar. Authors are required to present research results, findings, and interpretations based on the whole data set in order to avoid misinterpretations and withdraw conclusions, which are not fragmented. Use the IJESM template to prepare and submit an article is mandatory. This manuscript is peer-reviewed before publication.

Review article
Authors must not summarize but present and discuss new synthesis and insights. In this article, the section of material and methods is not required. Please adjust the IJESM template to prepare a review article. This manuscript is peer-reviewed before publication.

Short Communication
This article is short, consisting only 3 to 4 pages. This article is based on limited data set due to either research topic is big or research is not thoroughly completed. The short communication article is peer-reviewed before publication.

Letters to Editor
This manuscript is not peer-reviewed. The authors directly submitted letters to Editors in chief. The format does not consist of sections as in regular, review, and short communication papers. The letters may relate to any previously published topic on IJESM or any topics on environmental sciences and management.

Discussion Papers
This manuscript is not peer-reviewed and requested by Editors in chief to reputable scientists who have expertise on relevant topics to submit a discussion paper.
